Tenancy rules by nation
Tenancies differ across the UK. We explain the general position in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland so you know what to expect.

Register interest for free
Tell us the area, type of home and timing you need. There are no fees, no holding deposits and no applications at this stage.
Private rent and build to rent
Homes for private rent may be let by us or by an institutional build to rent partner, depending on how a site is funded and managed.
Planning in West Yorkshire: the English rules
Buying a new-build home in West Yorkshire follows the usual English process: an offer, conveyancing, exchange of contracts, which makes the purchase binding, and completion. Many buyers arrange a snagging inspection to find defects. New homes are usually covered by a structural warranty, and developers registered under the New Homes Quality Code give buyers access to the New Homes Ombudsman Service. We have no homes on sale yet, so register your interest to hear about future homes.
In England, the Renters' Rights Act 2025 has replaced assured shorthold tenancies with assured periodic tenancies for most private lets, ending section 21 'no fault' evictions. Deposits must be protected in a government-approved scheme. Social and affordable rent homes are let by councils and registered providers, which are regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing.

Your questions answered for West Yorkshire
What is build to rent?
Build to rent means homes designed and built specifically for renting, usually owned by one landlord and professionally managed as a whole development. Schemes often include on-site management and shared spaces. Land to Homes talks to institutional partners about build to rent, but we have no build to rent homes available at present.
What kind of tenancy would I get in England?
Under the Renters' Rights Act 2025, most new private tenancies in England are assured periodic tenancies with no fixed end date, and section 21 'no fault' evictions have ended. Landlords must rely on specified grounds to seek possession. Social housing tenancies follow different rules. For advice on your own circumstances, speak to an independent housing adviser.
Does Land to Homes have any homes to rent?
No, not yet. Land to Homes is a new venture and has no homes available to rent. We do not take rental applications, holding deposits or fees at this stage. You can register interest with the area, type of home and timing you need, and we will contact you if we bring forward rental homes that match.
Can I apply to you for a social or affordable rent home?
No. Social and affordable rent homes are let through council housing registers and housing association lists, which set the eligibility rules and decide who is offered a home. If a site we bring forward includes affordable homes, they will be let through the relevant council or housing association. Contact your local council's housing team to join a list.
Are there new homes available in West Yorkshire now?
Not yet. Land to Homes has no homes available in West Yorkshire at the moment. You can register your interest for West Yorkshire, and we will contact you if we bring homes forward there or nearby.
